Weaving Women

The weaving women gather together to put on a display of their various methods for preparing alpaca wool. They showed us how they use different plants and minerals to dye the wool and how they spin it to use for weaving.

Man Working

At the Maras Salt Mines workers lifted heavy sacks of extracted salt around the salt pools.

Woman Weaving

On our way to Cusco we stopped at a weaving workshop. We watched the women as they spun their yarn and dipped it in a variety of dyes created by using natural materials from the surrounding environment.

Man Standing

Upon our exploration of the infamous Machu Picchu we were accompanied by the presence of several security people who avidly watched the movements of the oncoming tourists.

Leaning in for a closer look at the weaver’s intricate process as she tightens down on her craft.

Women Sitting

A lady sat patiently watching over the people who approached her tiny store around the corner. I discovered her sitting in one of the many little back alleys hidden within the streets of Cusco.

Women Standing

The same lady got up to tend to her store and socialize with potential customers.
